Devil May Cry series

So i just downloaded Devil May Cry 4 for my PS3. It was amazing. Last year i had bougth the 5th Anniversary Devil May Cry series so i basically bought all 3 Devil May Cry games for 60$. I had never played the game before but all my friends raved about it so i figured may as well get all three in one quick cheap shot.

I threw in the first game that night and hated it. I only got through one mission and decided the controls were terrible and the camera had no idea what it was doing. Didnt' like it at all.

Now back to Devil May Cry 4 demo... so damn good, i actually went back and played Devil May Cry 1 again and am now up to mission 17. I'm HOPING the second and third game are much better because one is still a disappointment but i'm willing to keep going to see how the next two are.

I'm just curious if anyone else had played this series and what your thoughts are on it.

the second one is great and the 3rd is good in gameplay crap for story

This is one game series that i have never played..Ive heard good things about it but never got around to playing...Maybe a look for a cheap one on ebay is in order???

Yeah that's the same way i felt. everyone i know kept telling me how amazing it was so i fnally just got all 3 since it was so cheap. if you find them super cheap i say check it out but dont' hold your breath. i dont' find it as amazing as the hype seems to be. but i am still excited when playing it to see the next one.

i downloaded the demo on the 360 and wasn't to impressed with 4, i never played them before but im not a big fan of hack and slash games. However if the story is good i do appreciate them, so Jet when you are finished with 1 and 2 let me know if the story is worth going back and giving them a chance in your opinion.

Sure thing. so far the story of 1 isn't that impressive. but i'll wait until i can judge the series as a whole.

Ok so i finished Devil May Cry 1.
Overall opinion - Really not impressed. The story was pretty lame, the last boss was MUCH easier then i anticipated him to be, and the camera was still way too annoying for my liking. Out of a 10 i'd rate this game a 6. It's not an awful game, i've definitly played worse and the missions are pretty short so you do get wrapped up into completing them all.

I started Devil May Cry 2, and i have to say, hoopy you were right. I'm really digging this one. I haven't gotten very far into it but it looks better, the story is more interesting, the controls a bit easier, i'm just having a good time. once this one is completed i'll say my overall liking of this game as well.

so skip DMC 1 if i ever decide to give them a try

yeah but its a little like playing mortal kombat- even if its shit just play it for the story
